JGraham Design, a London based interior and architectural design practice, was given carte blanche to transform and extend the ground floor of this London terraced home.
Briefed to create a functional family home which could incorporate clever hidden storage and reflect the clients’ penchant for colour and texture, the space had to include a new kitchen and dining space, as well as a multi-purpose garden room that could serve as an office, guest space and yoga room.
The extension design was anchored by a beautiful DeVOL kitchen. Made from a dark stained timber (similar to the garden shed), it provided an important centre point from which other design choices were made – this included a vast seven-metre kitchen roof light, a striking copper worktop and copper light fixtures to complement the black and, to give a distinct industrial look to the space, exposed black steel beams.
Our black Alalpardo tiles for the flooring and hearth were used to introduce pattern and unite the kitchen with the living room. The beautiful textural lime washed walls gently softened any perceived angularity making this a warm and welcoming home.
Hackney House is a fine example of how our Alalpardo tiles can bring pattern into a space and can be used to create a cohesive, contemporary design scheme.
‘To reflect this amazing growing family and their colourful and exciting lives, the design for this room had to be anything but ordinary, and that’s exactly what we did!’ Jessica Graham, Founder of JGraham Design.
