Case study: Handsome hallway in Hampton Court

There’s nothing like making an entrance, and when it comes to doing so in style, this stunning space certainly ticks every box. Interior designers Forbes Rix chose to use our grey and white Basco tiles for this gorgeous project, complementing the antique-inspired pattern’s soft tones with a perfectly pitched shade of blue. We love this spot so much we asked Natalie and Louise to share the design story with us…

What was the brief for this project?

The brief from our clients was to create a quirky and eclectic family home using personal artefacts that they had acquired over the years.

What did the project entail?

We spent a lot of time on the spatial planning - it was necessary to transform what was essentially a gutted shell of a building into a sumptuous yet informal home that would be perfect for entertaining.

Which Bert & May products did you use?

We used the Grey Basco tile and the Grey Blake border tile for the entrance hall and WC.

Why did you choose them?

We loved this tile because, although contemporary, it has a nod to the traditional, which works perfectly in this rather grand entrance hall.

What you think they add to the space?

They look like they could have been there for years. They have a faded glory and a vintage feel that we really like.

We have had so many fab comments about the tiles in both the entrance hall and the WC. Our clients were thrilled with the elegant look and the way they set the style for the rest of the house. They have also been impressed with their durability…. No mean feat with a busy family, dogs, cats and lots of entertaining.

What led you to use Bert & May?

We love the raw quality of all the Bert and May tiles… The colours are spot-on and they add an extra bit of class to a project.
