Meet Elisa Passino

Meet Elisa Passino, the designer behind our new tile collection: Dulce. 

Elisa Passino is an Italian designer whose work balances beauty with functionality and is characterised by colour, clean lines and contemporary patterns with an architectural influence.

Born and raised in Italy, Passino drew inspiration for Dulce from her country’s rich art and architectural heritage, along with the colourful vistas of Lisbon where she established her design studio in 2019. 

Colour is always the starting point for Passino when working on a new design or project, as it has the power to completely change the perception of a shape or space. Passino’s creative background in the worlds of fashion, textiles and graphic design fuels her design process and ability to play with patterns and colours, and translate this graphic language into exuberant design collections that please the soul.

For the Dulce Collection, Passino started by selecting the hero colour for each pattern from Bert & May’s existing colour palette and then worked on matching other colours from there. To achieve the perfect harmony in colour combinations Passino envisaged, Bert & May used their expertise in handcrafted cement tile pigments to create bespoke new hues for the collection. Sweet shades of Apricot, Rhubarb and Mandarin meet playful tones of Iris and Lake to create a series of versatile and adaptable designs.
