Black is the New Black
When it comes to creating bathrooms with longevity and wow factor, using black is a no-brainer. Not only do inky hues bring the drama, but they’re also sophisticated and classic, making them an obvious choice for modern bathroom spaces that will never go out of style. Whether it’s floor-to-ceiling black marble or a classic black and white bathroom floor, here are some of the best ways to use this endlessly versatile colour…
A black and white bathroom palette is a great starting point for anyone who doesn't want to go full blackout. Team Brighton Stone (in porcelain or cement) with Old Iron (in porcelain or cement) for a traditional checkerboard effect, or use the same colours in our encaustic herringbone tiles for a really striking floor design.
Black and white patterned tiles are another way to nail the monochrome look. Try our Black Alalpardo (in either cement or porcelain), Majadas, or Split Shift tiles for a modern bathroom look, or go traditional with Santona, Basco, or Asquith. Alternatively, add a touch of celestial sparkle with our Luna tile in Old Iron, or Black Pradena.

Let the texture do the talking
Our plain black encaustic tiles have a soft, chalky finish that adds tons of texture to wherever they’re used. You can use them from floor to ceiling and the overall feel will still be soft and warm. Try Old Iron or Darkroom Black.

Bring the glamour with marble
Black marble tiles are a great way to add a touch of opulence to your space. Play around with shapes by combining Black Herringbone Honed Marble tiles on the walls with Black Square Honed Marble on the floor, or combine marble walls with patterned or plain black encaustic or porcelain tiles on the floor.
Choose glazed for understated opulence
Our black glazed tiles are all about texture. From the gently undulating glaze on our Old Iron Waterfall Glazed Metro tiles, to the imperfect, gently pitted surface of our Ebony Zellige, these tiles are a great bet for spaces where there’s lots of light that can bounce off them. Please note - glazed tiles are suitable for bathroom walls only and are not recommended for floors.
Get into shape
If you’re using black throughout your bathroom, experiment with shape to add an extra dimension to the space. Our Old Iron Black Hexagonal tiles are a stellar choice, or go for a herringbone which allows you to get creative arrangement-wise.
Go for gold
Black and gold are natural partners, so look to brass taps, golden accessories, and gilt mirrors when it comes to finishing touches.
Add some fun with pops of colour
The beauty of black is that it goes with anything. Team it with bold and bright primary colours for striking contrast or go for pretty pastels to create a softly romantic space with a grown-up edge.
