How does the consultation work?
Your initial design consultation will take place either in person (if specified) or over Zoom. Before the consultation, you will receive an email containing a link to join the meeting. Please let us know if you have trouble accessing the link or if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Is it one-to-one via video, or can we do it in person?
We are happy to host you in any of our studios. Please select your closest studio when booking.
How do I prepare for the consultation?
Ahead of the consultation, you will receive an email from us asking for extra information about your project. You can share as much or as little as you feel is relevant. The more details you provide, the more time we can spend focusing on design during your consultation. Generally, we ask for photos of the space, floor plans, inspiration images, color palettes, and any furniture or fittings choices.
How do I show my designer my space?
If you can’t take photos of the space ahead of time, you can show us around in real-time using the camera on your device during the consultation.
How much can I cover in a 20-minute consultation?
In our free 20-minute consultation, we aim to identify your personal style and match you with Bert & May tiles to create the perfect scheme for your space. You’ll come away with clarity and direction for your design and excitement to start your project! We can typically address any design or technical questions during this session, so feel free to bring anything you're unsure about.
What happens if, during the meeting, we realize we need the full design service?
Many clients use our initial chat as a way to get a feel for our products and designers before committing to the full design service. We welcome this! If, during or after our consultation, you decide to proceed with the full service, we will send over a payment link to get the process started.
What type of product recommendations will I receive during my consultation?
Our designers will consider your needs, budget, the practicalities of the space, and your personal style to recommend Bert & May tiles. These could include handmade or antique tiles, porcelain, marble, or terracotta. If you would like a list of the products discussed, simply ask your designer.
How and when do I pay for the consultation?
If you’d like to book a longer consultation or know you need the full design service (including renders), you can pay the £100 fee at the time of booking to secure your designer’s time. If you prefer a shorter chat before deciding to proceed with the full design service, you can book our free consultation and pay later to continue the process.
Is the full design service refundable?
The £100 fee is non-refundable, but it can be redeemed against a £1000 spend on any Bert & May products. This will be factored into the final quote your designer sends you.
